Holiday Movie Night

Bring your whole family and enjoy Holiday Movie Night at Sunset on Thursday, December 7 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.  In addition to the free movie, treat your children to pizza and popcorn for only $1.00 each. You can also use the pre-order form to order a whole pizza for your family and it'll be ready for pick-up when you arrive for the event.  There will also be free activities for them to enjoy:  crafts, games and dancing.  Bring your phone and snap a picture of your child with Santa for only $1.00.  

It's a great way to get in the holiday spirit.

Fall Book Fair

Saddle up and read! Round up your family to make your way to the reading frontier, where readers are wanted and adventure awaits in books galore from Scholastic and other popular publishers! Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books children want to read right into our school.  It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.  Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.

It's BBQ Time!

Join your child at lunch time for the second school-wide BBQ of the year on Friday, November 3.  Adult price for BBQ is $3.50 and non-student child price is $3.25.

WESD To Host Teacher Fairs

The Washington Elementary School District (WESD) will host a Teacher Interview Fair on Saturday, November 4, 2017 to hire teachers for the 2018-2019 school year. The fair will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the WESD Administrative Center, 4650 West Sweetwater Avenue, Glendale, 85304. Contracts for the 2018-2019 school year will be offered to qualified candidates. Student teachers, soon-to-be college graduates, seasoned teachers and alternative pathways are encouraged to attend! 

This is the first of six scheduled Teacher Interview Fairs. The others will take place at the same place and times, with the exception of March on: 

Saturday, December 16, 2017,
Saturday, January 20, 2018,
Saturday, February 24, 2018,
Thursday, March 15, 2018, 4 to 7:30 p.m.; and
Saturday, April 28, 2018. 

Interviews will be conducted for those interested in teaching: kindergarten, elementary education, special education, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, general music, art and special needs preschool. Successful candidates may be recommended for a 2018-2019 teaching contract. 

Apply online prior to the interview fair at jobs.wesdschools.org. Please select the posting titled, Teacher – All Positions. Human Resources will contact qualified applicants directly to preschedule an interview.

Clothing Drive - November 13 - 17, 2017

Do you need to clean out your closets?  We have the perfect incentive.  Bring in your clean, gently used clothing November 13 - 17.  You will be helping our community and will also get a chance to win a free turkey.  Every day your child brings in clothes, he or she puts in a ticket in for a turkey drawing.  Then on November 20 a lucky ticket winner from each grade level is chosen to receive a free turkey.  Our thanks go out to Sunset PTO for purchasing the turkeys for the drawing.

Join the Sunset family on Friday, November 3 at 8:15 a.m. for our monthly spirit assembly of the year.  We will celebrate our students of the month.  It's a quick 15 minutes that is guaranteed to start your day with a smile.  Join in the Sunset spirit theme and wear camouflage.

School Office Opens July 19

All school offices are now closed until Wednesday, July 19. School offices will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., July 19 – 28, resuming their regular office hours on Monday, July 31. If you’re interested in registering for the 2017 – 2018 school year, all student registration occurs at the Welcome and Registration Center, located at 3200 W. Cholla Street. The Welcome and Registration Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., closed from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
